Neural mechanisms of social decision making Scott Huettel Duke University Embedding choices in a social context often changes both the process and outcome of decision making. In this talk, I will describe recent work that uses functional neuroimaging to examine differences between social decisions involving consideration of the preferences of others and non-social decisions that have similar information content. Results from these studies have implications for theories of the function of the temporal-parietal junction, a brain region whose role in social cognition has remained controversial.
